About me

I am Crisu Iakovou a Gestalt therapist, educator, and foster mother.
Originally from Greece, I have lived across Europe and South America, collaborating with schools and non-profit organizations. These experiences taught me a fundamental truth: emotional well-being is the foundation of all human learning and development.
My professional journey began in early childhood and primary education as a Montessori teacher. Over time, I realized that my true calling was in providing emotional support for children and their families. This spark led me toward my own path of self-discovery and training:
- Postgraduate Degree in Gestalt Therapy for Children and Adolescents – Institut Integratiu, Barcelona.
- Three-Year Gestalt Therapy Training – Institut Integratiu.
- Play Therapy Training – Violet Oaklander model.
- Compassionate Inquiry (In Progress) – a trauma-informed approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté.

I consider myself a curious person and a lifelong learner.
I am a dedicated practitioner of yoga and meditation; without my practice, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. It provides me with a sense of calm, energy, and vitality. In my own therapeutic journey, bodywork and connecting with my physical self were the most transformative elements.
As a sensitive and creative soul, I use art and play as natural languages for expression and transformation—not only with children but with adults as well.
I am deeply passionate about my work, as well as reading, writing, and researching. I’m the type of person who often has three books on the go at once, yet it feels like there is always more to discover.

Since childhood, I have loved to travel and explore new cultures, lifestyles, and perspectives. I speak four languages and have lived in several countries; ultimately, it is the connection with people that truly drives me.
One of the things that moves me most is returning to my roots in Greece and looking out over the sea.
